My office is located at 1736 E. Sunshine Street, Suite 510 within the Plaza Tower in Springfield, near the intersection of Glenstone Avenue and Sunshine Street.  Feel free to park in the lot, enter the building and ride the elevator to the fifth floor.  Turn right once you exit the elevators.  I offer counseling services to couples, men and individuals who are tired of feeling depressed, anxious, angry and want strategies on how they can feel better.

What is counseling?

Counseling can provide people with support and help in finding ways to cope with emotions that go along with a difficult time period.  The goal of my counseling services for you is to provide you with an opportunity to explore your concerns and problems with a professional mental health provider in a confidential setting.  I provide crisis intervention, brief individual and couples counseling and groups for people on a variety of counseling and wellness topics such as:  stress and anxiety relief, overcoming depression, grieving loss, men’s issues, and relationship communication strategies.

What can one expect from Ed Derr?

Clients can expect to meet with a counselor who is interested in listening to their concerns and problems in a manner that is nonjudgmental and nonthreatening.  Furthermore, I will help clients better understand and deal more easily and effectively with those concerns and problems.  That means making a connection with someone who will listen, understanding, patient, and can provide relief without making you feel vulnerable.  Often during difficult times it can be hard to navigate the different options.  I help clients consider all possible options and assist you to decide what will be best for your individual situation.  I will not give direct advice, unless asked, but will instead help explore alternatives so that you can make the best possible decisions.
